Visitors Bureau to Coordinate Emergency Efforts as Christmas Crossing Historical Re-enactment Must Go On!
The Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau (BCCVB) is working tirelessly to save the time-honored Christmas re-enactment with the assistance of State Rep. Scott Petri, R-178, and local community members. The BCCVB has been a long front-line supporter of Washington Crossing Historic Park and understands the importance of its status as a historical treasure and its economic position for the county and region’s tourism industry. In light of recent budget cuts, we believe strongly that now is the time to move forward and take action on this long-standing Bucks County custom to ensure its continuance.
A nonprofit group, Friends of Washington Crossing Park, has been formulated by the BCCVB to pursue and create fundraising and volunteer opportunities. Your donations and assistance will help support this historic event.
“When financial budgets are provided to us by the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission (PHMC), we will do everything in our power to mobilize our resources both financially and timely to see that this significant event is a success,” stated Bill Haas, Vice President of the BCCVB Board of Directors.
Throughout the recent budget dilemma facing the PHMC, Jerry Lepping, Executive Director of the BCCVB, has been very attentive and aware of the situation by meeting with their Executive Director, Barbara Franco, to discuss the future of Washington Crossing Historic Park on numerous occasions.
“We are looking forward to continually working with State Rep. Petri, PHMC and Upper Makefield Township officials to prevent this beloved tradition from facing its final day due to economic shortfalls,” stated Lepping.
In conjunction with this support, the BCCVB has also rolled out a new logo this year showcasing the image that commemorates Washington crossing the Delaware. This logo showcases the historical significance to residents and visitors of our county as well as demonstrating our commitment to the park and its notable contributions to our region.
The BCCVB is thankful that the PHMC, spearheaded by Barbara Franco, has been very proactive with helping all interested parties with the coordination of the re-enactment.
